Children and Technology

Personally, I believe technology today is used not only for the good but also for the bad.  Social media feeds the heads of our children with all kinds of things and is used in some very wrong ways.

What really bothers me the most is when families get together and all the kids have their cell phones or ipads on.  No real interaction with the rest of the family happens.  The responsibility falls right on the parents for the way children are distracted from everything around them.  Parents, make them put their phones and ipads, ect…  away when you are having family time and when you go out to eat together as a family.  If you do not do this your children will miss out on so much the family has to offer them.

It seems technology is driving a wedge between fantasy and reality.  Whatever happened to just sitting down and talking to each other?

I also have a great dislike for texting.  I have a real  personal issue with it.  It’s a phone- call me, don’t text me. Talk to me with your voice not your fingers.

How the world will benefit from my book The Little Blue Piggy

The book I have written is meant to bring young people to a greater understanding of 3 things.

  1. The value of friendship.
In this world we live in with all it’s gadgets that distract us from each other, it is important to take time to have close personal relationships that do not rely on cell phones, ipads, computers, or whatever. What is really needed is personal interaction with one another.
  2. Acceptance of one another. We need to see each other as real people- human beings that have strengths and weaknesses. And yet in those things love who we are and accept each other. We need to see through those things and see the real person God created us to be.
  3. Caring for others And doing this even when it is not convenient to you. Sometimes we have to put ourselves aside to care for someone in need. That takes courage and love. These are virtues our world desperately need.

Games and Play in Early Childhood Education Stimulate Learning

Without a doubt, games in early childhood can help your child learn good morals, values, and ethics. Role playing can teach the value of friendships and how to make friendships that last. Role playing can have a major impact on how your child sees the world, especially individuals, and themselves. Playing with other children introduces them to different personalities. They learn how to treat each other, and of course learn that we are all really different in many ways and yet at the same time similar. Play time creates good friendships and sometimes not so good friendships. This is usually because of personalities. Again we are all different and also very similar.

How can the education system be improved?

Education today is different then when I grew up as a child in the 1950’s and 60’s. We studied American history in great detail and health class was about caring for our bodies and minds. We were taught to respect one another.

True morals and values are not taught the way they were just a few decades ago. Society is different and it’s morals are not what they once were. Our educators need to get back to the real basics and teach how one should live for the betterment of all and not be so centered on ourselves.

Social media teaches our children more about sex, hate, disrespect… the list goes on. When will it stop?
